INTRODUCING THE SUPPORTING ORGANIZATION FOR DOGATHON: FOREVER WHEELCHAIR
1. The Story of Foreverwheelchair’s Founding
Foreverwheelchair was founded by Oscar Fernando Ruiz Bonilla, a Colombian, and his wife, Thư, a general practitioner from Vietnam. Originating from love, they got married in 2019 and established a center specializing in creating wheelchairs and providing assistance for abused, abandoned, and disabled pets.

2. The Journey of Creating Wheelchairs for Disabled Dogs and Cats
The Foreverwheelchair project, initiated by Oscar Fernando Ruiz Bonilla and his community, focuses on designing and improving wheelchairs for disabled dogs and cats. Oscar shares that the journey began when he realized that wheelchairs made from PVC pipes did not meet the actual needs of pets, especially regarding weight and adjustability. To improve this, he researched and tested various materials, including plastic, metal, and rubber, to find the most suitable material for the animals’ skeletal structures.
Over the course of five years, Oscar, along with his wife and associates, developed wheelchairs from basic to advanced models, tailored to different breeds of dogs. Each product goes through a meticulous design process, from sketching ideas, analyzing components, to assembling and refining. The result is wheelchairs that not only allow disabled dogs and cats to move but also protect their physical development.

3. Commitment in Every Wheelchair Product
“In other wheelchairs, we have changed the position of the straps. At the same time, we also use various types of wheels and rubber to make everything more convenient on all terrains. For example, the wheelchair allows them to run on grass, sand, cement—everywhere. With that stability, they can run and turn quickly without worrying about losing balance. The wheelchair must give them a sense of safety; when they feel safe, they are more likely to cooperate, want to go for walks, run, or explore their abilities.”

4. The Journey to Rediscover a New Life for Disabled Dogs and Cats
Dogs and cats are not like wild animals; they want to be close to humans. They trust humans and grow up with them, having some who love them but also some who are willing to mistreat them.
“In Vietnam, many people love animals but don’t know what to do with their suffering. So, I think this is where I need to work; it’s a way for a person to help the community. If I were in a country without these problems, without people in need of help, then the story might just be about business. But that’s not what we want. My wife and I really want to help others rather than just run a business.”
Ca Chim, a dog rescued by Forever Wheelchair, is one of the most memorable stories. Having lost two legs and abandoned on the street, Fish was initially very fearful and would not allow anyone to approach. Thanks to the love and care from Oscar and Thư, Fish gradually overcame its fears and skillfully used the wheelchair as new legs, living confidently and happily. The story of Fish and many other disabled dogs and cats has been revived by Forever Wheelchair, providing new lives through wheelchairs, serving as a testament to unconditional love.
