INTRODUCING THE SUPPORTING ORGANIZATION FOR DOGATHON: SAN NHA NHIEU CHO
1. The Story Behind the Creation of San Nha Nhieu Cho
San Nha Nhieu Cho (SNNC) started as a personal project by Tran Minh Quang, who has been rescuing dogs from being slaughtered since 2019. Initially, he worked alone in rescue efforts, but after running out of space at home, he decided to share this project with the community in 2021. Since then, SNNC has become a place that has rescued hundreds of abandoned and mistreated dogs and cats thanks to the continuous support from the community.

With the goal of not only rescuing animals but also raising community awareness about animal welfare, SNNC also aims to encourage adoption instead of buying pets. The fan page “Sân Nhà Nhiều Chó” has attracted around 33,000 followers, sharing touching stories about rescue efforts and protecting these animals.
2. Current Operations of SNNC
The rescue station of SNNC is currently located on a 10,000 square meter farm in Thanh Oai District, Hanoi, housing over 300 dogs and 50 cats. To ensure safety and health, new arrivals at the station are isolated and monitored closely. However, SNNC has had to relocate three times due to difficulties in renting premises and reactions from neighbors. Currently, the station is undergoing renovations and requires substantial funding to improve its facilities.

Despite facing significant financial difficulties, the members of SNNC begin their work every day at 7:30 AM. Their tasks range from cleaning, preparing food, and caring for the health of the dogs and cats to taking them for walks and giving them medicated baths for fungal infections. Caring for the pets at the station is not easy, as many of them have suffered from both physical and psychological trauma. However, with great love and dedication, Quang and the volunteers continue to persevere in this important work.

In terms of finances, SNNC requires about 200 million VND each month to maintain its operations, including costs for food, medication, and treatment for the animals. Part of the funding comes from community support, but in emergency situations, team members often have to contribute out of their own pockets.
3. Unyielding Spirit in the Effort to Rescue Dogs and Cats
In addition to facing material difficulties, SNNC also deals with mental pressures. Quang has faced opposition from his family, and team members have often encountered resistance from their loved ones regarding their time and financial commitments to rescuing dogs and cats. Furthermore, criticism from the community about animal protection, as well as misunderstandings during rescue operations, sometimes adds to the members’ stress.
However, SNNC’s work goes beyond rescue; it also involves finding new homes for the animals. Although the adoption process is relatively slow due to stringent financial and responsibility requirements for adopters, Quang emphasizes that monitoring the animals’ well-being after adoption is essential to ensure they are not subjected to irresponsibility or, worse, end up in slaughterhouses.

In the future, SNNC plans to strengthen its advocacy work for animal welfare and collaborate with schools to educate students about protecting and caring for pets. Quang hopes that through these efforts, the community will become more aware and responsible in safeguarding the rights of domestic animals.
Despite facing numerous difficulties and challenges, SNNC and its volunteers remain steadfast in their mission to rescue and protect dogs and cats, demonstrating their profound love and unwavering sense of responsibility on this journey.
